Boston is one of the oldest municipalities in the United States, founded in 1630, and was the scene for many key events in the American Revolution. There are many things for visitors to explore in the area and we have listed a few of those here to give you a sample of what is available.

Boston’s North End: Secret Food Tour

This walking tour will take you to explore the vibrant culinary scene of Boston’s North End mixed in with a lit bit of American history and, of course, quite a bit of food.

During the 3 to 3.5-hour guided tour 7 stops to taste local favourites will be made while walking parts of the Freedom Trail dating to the American Revolution.

Boston History & Highlights Afternoon Tour

This 2-hour experience begins at the Aquarium “T” Station on the historic focus of Boston Harbor, Long Wharf. From there you will walk past the Rose Kennedy Greenway, State Street and the Custom House Tower, which was the city’s first skyscraper before your guide leads the way towards the famous Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market and their stunning views.

This is followed by a stop in front of the Old State House and site of the Boston Massacre in the heart of Downtown Boston. Your knowledgeable guide will answer any questions you may have.

Walking through Downtown Crossing and past the Old City Hall to King’s Chapel Burial Ground, the city’s oldest burial ground and one of the most historic places in the country and King’s Chapel, the first Anglican church in the country and also the first church in the USA to have a pipe organ. Whenever it is possible to do so the guide will take the group inside, but it is not always a possibility.

You get to take in the views of modern Boston from outside the Massachusetts State House before continuing the tour through the photogenic Beacon Hill with the quintessential architecture of Boston’s red brick row houses.

The final stop on the tour is one of Boston’s favourite green spots, Boston Public Garden.

The tour also includes a surprise local treat.

Boston Fenway Park: 1-Hour Guided Walking Tour

Fenway Park is the home to the Boston Red Sox and is known as “America's Most Beloved Ballpark”. The experienced tour guide will provide a thrilling tour of this charming 106 year-old Boston monument.

Other than the view of the legendary stadium and baseball field you get to see Pesky’s Pole and sit atop the world famous Green Monster, which stands 37 feet 2 inches overlooking left field while the Roof Deck overlooks right field as well as breath-taking views of Boston.

End the tour at the Fenway Park Living Museum collection, a vast collection of Red Sox baseball memorabilia.

Boston: Whale Watching Catamaran Cruise

Join professional researchers from the Whale Center of New England, the region’s foremost authority on whale populations onboard a high-speed catamaran and see whales in their natural habitat.

The catamaran features 3 outside decks which allows for optimal viewing capability. The climate-controlled cabin-space inside features tables with cushioned seating, state-of-the-art sound and video-systems and offers snacks and beverages for purchase.

Whales you might see include Humpback Whales, Finback Whales, Minke Whales and White Sided Dolphins.

The tour is 3 hours long and the high-speed catamaran allows for as much time as possible watching the whales. Other than that it is a nice time on the water.

Boston: Hop-On, Hop-Off Trolley 1-Day Ticket

The concept of Hop-On, Hop-Off is that one can join or end their tour at any of the stops on the route as suits them. This gives the freedom to Hop-Off at sights that interest and then Hop-On again and ride to the next sight of interest. One can also ride the trolley all the tour through without getting off as the friendly guides on board narrate and inform interesting facts about the different sights.

The full tour circuit non-stop takes 1 hour and it will give a great orientation of Downtown Boston.

The trolleys run every 10-30 minutes from 9.30 AM to 4:30 PM, depending on the season.

Harvard: 70-Minute Harvard Tour

Harvard is the oldest university in America, located 10 km from Boston and this tour is guided by a current student there that will take you through the tales of its history and culture, landmarks and monuments.

The tour will take you through campus and is designed to be a funny and educational 70-minute journey.

The tour begins in the heart of Harvard Square and will lead into the historic Harvard Yard and includes getting up-close at major Harvard landmarks including the John Harvard Statue, Johnston Gate, Memorial Hall and Widener Library and the student tour guide will also share about the most famous of the people that attended Harvard. There is also an option to enhance the experience with admission to the Harvard Museum of Natural History.

Boston: 1.5-Hour Ghosts and Gravestones Tour

This tour will let you explore Boston’s sordid past in an evening full of fun, scares and ghost stories. The tour guides will tell tales of Boston’s dead in their own unusual way as you venture to the grave sites of John Hancock, Paul Revere, Samuel Adams and others.

Hear local tales of murder, mayhem, ghosts and ghouls as you visit the streets where the Boston Strangler once prowled and walk around two of Boston’s historic and haunted burial grounds.

Be warned, though, you never know what kind of ghoulish creatures you may encounter on this journey as you travel back in time to learn about some of the characters who lived and died in Boston.
