Boston Logan International Airport Transfers

When arriving at Logan International Airport (BOS), it is important to remember to collect your entire luggage at the baggage claim area before proceeding to your choice of transfer.

The options of transfer are several and which one is best for you will depend on where you are going, or coming from if you are about to depart from the airport.

Rental Cars

All of the rental car companies at Boston Logan Airport are located in the Rental Car Center that is located at:

The free of charge Massport Shuttle bus offers transportation between the terminals and the Car Rental Center as follows:

  • Route 22 runs between Terminals A and B and the Car Rental Center during the hours of 10AM and 6PM.
  • Route 33 runs between Terminals C and E and the Car Rental Center during the hours of 10AM and 6PM
  • Route 55 runs between all the terminals and the Car Rental Center during early mornings and late evening off-peak hours. 

To return a vehicle to the Rental Car Center follow the signs located on the inbound road. 

Buses

On-Airport Shuttle - To move between the different terminals, the Car Rental Center, the Airport Station and the Waterfront Dock is free using the Massport Shuttle buses. 

The bus stops can be found outside each of the facilities. 

SilverLine – The rapid transit bus Silver line Route SL1 operates between the airport and South Station, via Waterfront, and is free of charge and includes free transfer to the Red Line with connections to Cambridge, Downtown Boston, Harvard University, Massachusetts General Hospital and MIT. 

There are connections to Amtrak as well as the Commuter Rail and Bus at South Station.

The buses are accessible for the disabled and the service operates between 5.30AM and 12.30AM on a daily basis.

Logan Express  - The nonstop bus service Logan Express operates between the airport and the areas of Back Bay, Braintree, Framingham, Peabody and Woburn. 

The journey takes up to 45 hours, although may take longer during rush hour. Tickets are purchased directly from the driver at the time of boarding or online ahead of time. There are no options for reservation as the service works on a first come, first serve basis. 

There are bus stops at all the terminals and the service runs daily between 5.00AM and 9.00PM.

Taxis

There are taxi ranks located on the Arrivals Level of Terminals A, B and E and on the Ground Level in the Central Parking Garage of Terminal C.

A journey to Downtown Boston takes 15-25 minutes and fares may vary between approximately $20-$45 depending on day of the week and time of the day. 

There are also limousine companies available at the airport. 

Trains

The MBTA Blue Line Subway runs between Logan Airport Station and State Street Station where it connects with the Orange Line and the areas of Back Bay, Boston College, Boston University, Brookline, Downtown Boston, Fenway Park, The Longwood Medical Area, Newton and Northeastern University.

Airport Station is reached using the free Massport Shuttle Bus Routes 22, 33 and 55.

Tickets are around $3 and are purchased in ticket machines inside the station. 

Ferries

MBTA Commuter Boat departs from Waterfront Dock to Hull, while there are water taxis that connect with a few locations around the bay area.

Parking

There are several options for parking at Boston Logan Airport including economy and premium, although not all options are available at the time of writing. 

The most common and convenient option is the Central Parking which is connected to all terminals via covered walkways with moving sidewalks. 

On days and times when there is an overflow it will be announced on the information billboards on the inbound road along with instructions for options.
